Carl Langston has been working to make Irwinton a better place to live and work since 1980.


In high school, Carl worked at Wilkinson County Telephone Company learning the family business and spending time with his Grandmother, Julia Porter Carswell.   Since 1983, Carl has served with the Irwinton Volunteer Fire Department and Wilkinson County Rescue/EMA and is a Georgia Certified Firefighter.   Carl served as:  Chairman of the East Wilkinson County Library, Chairman of the Wilkinson County Chamber of Commerce, President of the Exchange Club of Wilkinson County, and continues to serve as a Cub Master and Asst. Scout Master with the Boy Scouts for the past 13 years.


Carl began his college studies in Electrical Engineering in Tennessee before receiving his Bachelor of Business Administration from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville.


When Irwinton's voters elected Carl Langston as Mayor in 1991,  Irwinton was at a breaking point.  Irwinton could not pay its bills, vendors had cut off credit, there was no money to pay the bills.   Under Carl's guidance and leadership, Irwinton paid off it's outstanding $27,000.00 debt, put money in savings, replaced both city water wells, and improved the quality of life for Irwinton's residents.


Carl is the proud father of four children - Julia (21), Matthew (19), Richard (16), and Mark (15).

   

Today, Carl wants to work for Irwinton as the "people's" Mayor.   Together, Mayor Langston and the City Council can move Irwinton Forward for all of its citizens.   Let's put Carl Langston back into the Mayor's Office and Make Irwinton Better for All!
