The City of Irwinton has had an engineering analysis completed by Ben Turnipseed Engineering to identify weaknesses in our water system. Iron bacteria, water tanks not on the same plane so redundency of the tanks is difficult, improper pump settings, and much more are leading our water system to premature failure and poor water quality. The water system has to have top priority. When our water system fails, business and county offices have to close. This hurts the reputation of the City.
The monthly City Council meeting is held the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall. I encourage you to come and learn more about the city's business.

CARL LANGSTON FOR mAYOR
Many people have asked me why I am running to serve again as Irwinton's Mayor. Simply, I know that I can help make changes which will make Irwinton's government more accountable and responsible its citizens. Irwinton is the seat of Wilkinson County and the County Government. When Irwinton's government or water department does not function many more people are affected than just city residents. Our water system MUST operate 24/7/365. If the city cannot provide quality water it puts a bad image on the City.
The City of Dublin imposes an illegal 10% franchise tax on the Citizens of Irwinton as well as DNG Wilkinson County Customers. DNG cannot charge more than 4% and 0% outside the City of Irwinton. I have brought this to the attention of Irwinton's Council on 3 occasions. At my own expense and effort, I was able to find out that Dublin was diverting sales taxes for our city, county and schools to Dublin and Laurens County. At one point there was enough sales tax diverted from our school system to buy a brand new $80,000 school bus. I WILL STOP THIS ILLEGAL TAX AS WELL AS MAKE SURE THE SALES TAXES WE PAY GO TO WILKINSON COUNTY!
I will not waste time in meetings discussing the purchase of a $17.00 pipe wrench. I will not make the water department wait 3 months to purchase the wrench. If the city cannot purchase a needed pipe wrench to keep our water system running, then procedures need to change.
Why do city council members and employees drink bottled water at city hall when the city is in the business of selling its customers water? If the city's water is good enough to sell, it is good enough for those at City Hall to drink. "You don't work for Ford and drive a Chevy."
